Blackwater Falls Winter Wilds

At the center of dark skies in West Virginia is Blackwater Falls State Park. If you’re not sledding join us for these activities:
February 8 – Beginners Introduction to Light Pollution, Dark Skies and Winter Constellations with Naturalist Paulita Cousin is at 1:30 p.m. at the Nature Center. This one hour program is a discovery presentation about dark skies and importance of reduction of light.
February 9 – Three great activities include 9:30 a.m. Winter at Blackwater Falls at the lodge. At 11:30 a.m., Winter Weeds along the lake stroll departing from the nature center; and 2:30 p.m. Awesome Snakes to learn more about West Virginia’s snake and to meet a live Eastern Rat Snake. Afternoon programs are held at the Nature Center.
February 10 – Wooden Craft projects galore will be at Blackwater Falls lodge. There is a craft fee for materials and the options run from $1-$12. Crafting begins at 10:00 a.m. Wall of the Wild is a 2:30 p.m. nature center program with Jenna Hughes.
The Nature Center and exhibits are open from 11:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. each day. Plenty of parking and Pendleton Lake is beautiful in winter months.
