Getting outdoors at Blackwater Falls finds a variety of activities to enjoy. Unless otherwise indicated, activities are held at the nature center area.

Young People for Parks Opportunity
11:00 a.m. On the Wings of the Monarch Film
This nature documentary takes you on the journey into the world of the monarch butterfly. About 47 minutes.

Craft Time
12:00 p.m. Butterfly Wings
Use markers/paint to create your own cardboard butterfly wings. Craft fee: $3.00

Young People for Parks Opportunity
1:00 p.m. Butterfly & Moth Nature Film
Enjoy the miraculous transformation from caterpillar to adult. About 30 minutes.

Craft Time
2:00 p.m. Butterfly Watercolor
Use colored plastic butterfly bodies and watercolor paint on paper wings to create your own butterfly. Craft fee – $1.00

Enjoy this whirlwind tour of Earth’s turbulent atmosphere and the forces that make the day fair or foul. About 30 minutes.

Craft Time
12:00 p.m. Rain stick
Use pre-cut foam pieces, cardboard and beads to make your own rain stick. Craft fee: $3.00

Movie Time
1:00 p.m. Deep in the heart of a forest awaits tiny sprites, winged fairies and tree spirits who all live in joyful harmony. But when their home is threatened by humans, one sprite gives her all to save it!

Face covering is required inside public buildings by Executive Order. Social distancing is encouraged. Thanks for staying safe. Park activities and other useful information is available at lodge, camping area and nature center.
