Getting outdoors in August at Blackwater Falls finds a variety of activities to enjoy. Unless otherwise indicated, activities are held at the nature center area.

Young People for Parks Opportunity: 10:00 a.m.
Sun Printing and Nature Stroll
Join the park naturalist, Paulita, for a fun competition scavenger hunt and choose an item approved by the naturalist for your sun print. Afterwards use the power of the sun to create a work of art. Craft fee: $1.00. About one hour.

Craft of the day is Wood Cabin – 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Meet your crafting host Aspen to get started staining a replica wood cabin or make it into a wooden gingerbread house. Craft fee: $10.00

Young People for Parks Opportunity: 10:00 a.m.
The magnificent Monarch Butterfly with some fun citizen science style activities with park naturalist, Paulita. Little walking. About 1 hour. Be prepared to play in the outdoors.

Raptors of West Virginia – Join Paulita, park naturalist to hear about some raptors that appear in West Virginia. Sorry, No Live Birds.

Young People for Parks Opportunity: 1:00 p.m.
Meet a Tree program
Join the park naturalist, Paulita, for a program about trees. Includes a short walk around the area. About 1 hour, 1/4 mile walking.

Swimming is permitted in at Pendleton Lake in the designated (Roped Off) area at own risk.
Face covering is required inside public buildings by Executive Order. Social distancing is encouraged. Thanks for staying safe. Park activities and other useful information is available at lodge, camping area and nature center.
