Blackwater Falls offers a variety of nature activities to enjoy. Unless otherwise indicated, activities are held at the nature center area.

Young People for Parks Opportunity: 10:00 a.m.
Fern Frolic Walk
Walk along Balsam Fir Trail to learn about a few of our common ferns founds in the area and how to identify them. About one hour.

11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Craft of the Day – Tie Dye
Tie dye a souvenir BLACK or WHITE T-shirt. Craft fee: $8.00 Youth, $10.00 Adult or $3.00 bring your own shirt. Sizes limited to first come.

Young People for Parks Opportunity: 1:00 p.m.
Bird and More Nature Writing – Meet at Pendleton Point Overlook to let the sounds and beauty of nature inspire and relax your mind while learning to record the moment in your personal journal. Inza will give writing prompts to help inspire creativity and help calm your mind. About thirty minutes. Please, bring a towel or something to sit on. Pencils and some paper provided but bringing your own is encouraged.

Young People for Parks Opportunity: 2:30 p.m.
Staff Favorite Walk
Meet at the Blackwater Falls Sled Run Fire Circle to walk along a section of Shay Trace Trail and Cherry Lane Trail enjoying some tidbits on the local flora and fauna of the area. About 1 hour. One Mile.

Choose from give thanks bracelet (50¢), Leather Arrow necklace ($1.00), Single Bear Claw necklace ($1.50), Neon Woven Bracelet ($2.00), Single color Paracord Bracelet ($3.00) and more at discretion of attendants on duty. Some projects not suitable for very young children.

Swimming is available at Pendleton Lake in designated area at your own risk.

Programs and activities begin at the Nature Center, unless indicated. Activities planned will observe social distancing. Please honor guidance provided by park naturalist based on directives currently in place as established by the Governor. Face coverings inside public buildings are required by Executive Order as of July 7, 2020. Social distancing encouraged.
