Bloom Blitz at 11:00 a.m.
How many flowers can we identify in ONE MILE? Meet your naturalist in front of the Camper’s Corner Store for a fun walk on the Road To Nowhere and Nature Trail as we observe what’s in bloom on a midsummer afternoon! YPP

Sensory Scavenger Hunt at 1:00 p.m.
Not your ordinary scavenger hunt! You do not need to carry a bag, pick, or collect things! You will be using your eyes, ears, nose, fingers, and maybe even your feet! Meet at the Camper’s Corner Store to pick up your list!

Turtle Talk at 3:00 p.m.
Meet at Shelter Four to learn about native WV turtles and how YOU can help protect them! YPP

Furs of West Virginia at 5:00 p.m.
Meet at Shelter Four (right through the metal tunnel) to learn about native animals to West Virginia AND observe the pelts of four of those animals! YPP

Rock Animals at 11:00 a.m.
Meet at Shelter Four (right through the metal tunnel) to paint your own rock animal! Paint will be provided. Bring your own rock!

Bingo at 1:00 p.m.
Not your ordinary bingo! It’s West Virginia themed bingo! Meet your naturalist at Shelter Four (right through the metal tunnel) to get the game started!

What About Wildflowers? 3:00 p.m.
Wildflowers bring a blaze of color to roadsides, pastures, and maybe even your backyard! Meet at Shelter Four to learn how to identify the wildflowers you may see in WV during mid-summer! YPP

Night Hike at 8:00 p.m.
Join your naturalist at the campfire circle for a nocturnal hike on the Long Branch Trail as we observe the sights and sounds of the forest as nighttime approaches! YPP

Early Bird Hike at 10:00 a.m.
Meet at the campfire circle for a short, 0.5 mile hike to the Overlook on the Overlook Trail! Comfortable shoes and water are recommended.

Fish Scratch Art Craft at 12:00 p.m.
Meet at Shelter Four to make colorful scratch art fish! You’ll also learn how to identify some fish common to West Virginia! YPP

West Virginia Scavenger Hunt at 2:00 p.m.
Meet in front of the Camper’s Corner Store to pick up your list of West Virginia related items to find throughout the park!

History Alive! Presents Ostenaco at 7:00 p.m.
Come to the campfire circle to meet Ostenaco!
Ostenaco was a leader of the Cherokee warriors who allied with Virginia military leaders against northern tribes fighting with the French. Portrayed by Doug Wood. Bring your own chairs! If weather does not cooperate, this event will take place in the activities room.

“Selfie” Scavenger Hunt at 1:00 p.m.
Bring your phone or a camera and meet outside the Camper’s Corner Store to pick up your list! Meet back at 2:00 p.m. to show your pictures!

Rock Animals at 3:00 p.m.
Meet at Shelter Four (right through the metal tunnel) to paint your own rock animal! Paint will be provided. Bring your own rock!

YPP: Young People for Parks is an environmental education program for children ages 6-16. To complete the program, participants attend three specified activities during their stay. Participants will also complete the information on a special YPP brochure. After turning it in to the park’s naturalist, each participant will receive a YPP patch. See your naturalist for the brochures and additional information.

Adventure Packs
Borrow one of our adventure packs anytime from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. – 7 days a week – in the park office! It’s filled with fun activities to complete during your stay at Beech Fork! Show your completed pack to the front desk and receive a fun prize!

“Some Summer Butterflies”
Help us create an inventory of butterflies native to Beech Fork! Take a picture of a butterfly, log some info, and email us your findings! See the fliers posted at the park headquarters for specifics and more information!
