Bat Night Bonfire at Kanawha State Forest
November 1, 2017 @ 9:01 pm
Forget all the myths and scary stories you’ve heard about “blind, blood-sucking hair-tangling bats!”
Celebrate National Bat Week at Kanawha Sate Forest on November 2, from 6-8 p.m. Come out and learn the truth about these beneficial flying mammals who eat tons of insects, pollinate plants, help spread seeds and play a critical role in our local ecosystem.
Biologist Doug Wood will be on hand to dispel myths and answer questions about forest bats:
- What do they eat?
- Do they migrate or hibernate?
- Why are so many bats dying?
We’ll have a bat slideshow in the nature center, bat games, bat crafts and snacks, plus a big bonfire. $3 per adult or $5 per family.
Hosted by the Kanawha State Forest Foundation. Call 304-558-3500 for additional information.
