Bat Night Bonfire at Kanawha State Forest

November 1, 2017 @ 9:01 pm

Forget all the myths and scary stories you’ve heard about “blind, blood-sucking, hair-tangling bats!”

Come celebrate National Bat Week and learn the truth about these beneficial flying mammals that eat tons of insects, pollinate plants, help spread seeds and play a critical role in our local ecosystem.

Biolgist Doug Wood will be on hand to dispel myths and answer questions what forest bats eat, how they migrate or hibernate and why so many bats are dying.

We’ll have a bat slideshow in the nature center, bat games, bat crafts and snacks, and a big bonfire. A suggested donation of $3 per adult or $5 per family is appreciated. 6-8 p.m.
