Archeology & Island History with Dr. Fuerst-Blennerhassett Lecture Series
A program about Indian settlement sites on Blennerhassett Island is delivered by Dr. David Fuerst, Archaeologist and President of the WV Archaeological Society. Blennerhassett Island is steeped with history of early inhabitants that made the island their home long before the arrival of European settlers and the island’s most famous residents, the Blennerhassett family.
The four lectures planned on each Sunday in February begin at 2:00 p.m. Musical entertainment is provided prior to each lecture beginning at 1:30 p.m. In addition, refreshments will be served following a question and answer period at the conclusion of each Sunday’s program. This year’s slate of presenters covers a wide variety of interesting topics including history, nature and archeology.
The 2020 Winter Lecture Series is held at the Blennerhassett Museum of Regional History at 137 Juliana Street in Parkersburg, WV, ( on the corner of Juliana and Second streets).
Seating is limited and reservations are required. The cost for each lecture is $4 per person for Friends of Blennerhassett members or $5 per person for non-members. The fee also includes admission to the museum, entertainment and refreshments. Reservations are made by visiting the museum or calling the park office at 304-420-4800. Free parking is at the museum.
