Afternoon Nature Hike & a Starry Starry Night
November 14, 2020 @ 1:01 am
Saturday afternoon at Chief Logan Lodge finds Naturalist Lauren Cole leading an easy guided nature hike, suitable for beginners. Meet in front of Chief Logan Lodge at the flag pole at 1:00 p.m.
The gas well road is a new nature observation area. Joining Cole, hikers learn about trees, birds, flowers and insects in the late autumn setting. It’s an easy hike, but rocks, roots and slope may be encountered.
Starry, starry night begins at 7:00 p.m. at Chief Logan Fire Pit. Attendees will look through a computerized telescope at various celestial bodies including the moon, planets, galaxies and more. Learn seasonal constellations and other cool facts about the night sky. Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn will be visible. Leonid meteor shower will be active; it is a weaker shower, with around 15 meteors per hour but still impressive. Rain will cancel this program.
If the county school map is orange or red, this activity will be canceled. See education map for current metrics.
