Afternoon Hike and a Starry Saturday Night
December 12, 2020 @ 1:00 pm
A early winter hike and star gazing with clear skies is a good Saturday outdoors.
Afternoon Nature Hike begins at 1:00 p.m. Meet Naturalist Lauren Cole at Chief Logan Lodge flag pole for a guided nature hike suitable for beginners. Learn trees, birds, flowers, insects and more! This is an easy hike but we’ll watch for rocks and roots along the trail.
Starry Saturday Night invites visitors to meet at 7:00 p.m. at Chief Logan Lodge fire pit to look through and learn about how to use a computerized telescope. Various celestial bodies that may be observed are the moon, planets, galaxies and more. Learn seasonal constellations and other cool facts about the night sky. Mars, Jupiter and Saturn will be visible if the sky is clear. Geminids meteor shower will be active; this is the best meteor shower of the year at around 100 meteors per hours! In case of rain, this activity is canceled.
